5th Annual Monte Pride Day Set for Friday, April 26th
Montezuma, March 1, 2019: Montezuma Community Development and the Montezuma Community School District are pleased to be hosting the 5th Annual Monte Pride Day on Friday, April 26th.
Monte Pride Day will once again bring together youth, business and public volunteers for a city-wide, community service day. Students from 6th to 12th grade along with the other volunteers will undertake projects all around town from 8:30am to 12:00pm.
Almost 900 volunteers have participated in Monte Pride Day over the past five years, and more than thirty businesses and organizations have supported the event. The volunteer hours and business contributions together represent over a $75,000 investment into Montezuma.
Our 2019 project list will be focused on making a big impact on the appearance of the town. Students will be working at the West City Park, Jackson Township & Masonic Cemetery, town square, on the school grounds and at many other locations!
The Monte Pride Day Committee is requesting volunteers from local businesses and the public to work with the students. All community members interested in volunteering should send an email to Abby@montezumaiowa.org or call 623-5617 by April 1st. All volunteers and sponsors will receive a t-shirt and be invited to a lunch on the school lawn at noon. The committee is also requesting in-kind donations for the following items, new/gently used yard rakes, yard trash bags, painters’ tape, paint brushes, or work gloves. Any donations can be dropped off at the Montezuma City Office Monday through Friday between the hours of 8a and 4p.
The Monte Pride Day Committee is organizing the event committee members include Alexa Wheaton, Christy McCaslen, Marinda DeJong, Sara Roorda and Abby Hubbard.
